    Aptera Rolls Out Electrical Cars

Carlsbad-based Aptera, the Idealab-backed electric vehicle startup, said this morning that it has unveiled two electrical vehicles it says it will sell for less than $30,000. The firm said that its Typ-1 vehicles are slated for delivery in 2008, and will be available in both all-electric and hybrid models. According to Aptera, it is now taking fully refundable reservation deposits of $500 for the car from residents of California. Aptera claims its all-electric model has a range of 120 miles, and its hybrid will provide more than than 300 miles per gallon. As part of the announcement, Aptera said it has received investments from Idealab and Esenjay Investments, and is also currently raising additional capital to allow the firm to begin manufacturing.
