AudioMicro Launches Stock Audio Site
Los Angeles-based AudioMicro, a startup focused on "stock" audio content, launched a beta of a site for allowing music creators to create audio content for the film, radio, television, and video production industry over the weekend. The firm said that it is looking to give composers, songwriters, sound designers, and audio engineers a way to create audio content which they can license to others. According to the company--which told socalTECH that is currently looking to raise capital with Southern California venture firms--content on the website can be used for both commercial and personal purposes. The company is looking to create a marketplace for audio content, similar to the growing market for microstock photography. The firm was founded by Ryan Born, formerly VP of Finance for WireImage.com (MediaVast, Inc.), which was acquired by Getty in June of 2007.
