Audyssey Labs Gets Win At Volvo
Los Angeles-based Audyssey Labs, a sound equalization technology firm founded by a number of well known innovators in the audio industry, announced Tuesday that the firm's technology has been chosen by Volvo Cars. According to Audyssey, Volvo will use its MultEQ acoustical correction technology to calibrate new cars equipped with Volvo's top of the line sound systems. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Audyssey's MultEQ product was originally developed to calibrate home theater systems. Audyssey Labs is a spinout of the University of Southern California; its founders include well known audio expert Professor Tomlinson Holman, who developed the THX Sound System, was Chief Engineer at Advent Corporation, and has received an Academy Award for his work; the firm's founders also include Professor Chris Kyriakakis from USC, Dr. Sunil Bharitkar, and Philip Hilmes. Audyssey is venture backed by Anthem Venture Partners.
