BakBone Acquires Asempra

San Diego-based Bakbone Software, a developer of data protection and backup software, announced this morning that it has acquired "certain assets" of Asempra Technologies. According to BakBone it will pay 3,846,154 shares of stock plus approximately $350,000 in cash for Asempra, which developed real-time data protection and recovery software for the Windows market. The deal is worth approximately $1.9M. Asempra was venture backed, having raised at least $29M in funding from Menlo Ventures, Polaris Venture Partners, and U.S. Venture Partners.
