Black Friday Spending Up In 2012, Hits $1.042 Billion

According to numbers released over the weekend by Internet traffic and e-commerce measurement service comScore, online Black Friday sales surged 26 percent from last year, and totaled $1.042 billion. The company said that U.S. retail, e-commerce spending on Friday was the heaviest, online spending day to date in 2012. The firm tallied sales of $633M on Thanksgiving. The big Black Friday sales bring total online sales to $13.7 billion for the holiday season so far. Online retailers traditionally have seen their biggest sales online today, Cyber Monday, as people head back to work and take advantage of online sales; comScore said it expects to see sales approaching $1.5 billion or higher today due to all that shopping.
