Blowtorch Gets $50M For New Media Studio

Blowtorch Entertainment said this morning that it has raised $50M in a venture capital round to create a new media company, which will develop both online and other content. The firm, which is dual-headquartered in San Francisco and Los Angeles, said the round of funding came from Ignition Partners and others. The firm said it will create content for online, theater, and mobile devices; including feature-length films, professional-grade shorts, mobile offerings, an online social community and live events. Blowtorch said it will release its first feature film, "You Are Here" in spring of 2008 in theaters.
