Broadcom, CSR Settle Lawsuits

Irvine-based semiconductor maker Broadcom said late Monday that the firm has settled all litigation and legal proceedings with CSR, the parent firm of SiRF Technology, and including Broadcom's subsidiary Global Locate. The two did not discuss terms of the agreement, but did say they have agreed not to pursue infringement actions against each other, or against third parties based on each others' products, for a period of five years. The settlement puts to bed a lawsuit which has been ongoing since December of 2006, when SiRF sued Global Locate over GPS technology patents. Broadcom bought Global Locate in 2007; CSR acquired SiRF in February of 2009.
