Broadcom Gets Set Top Box Win In China

Irvine-based semiconductor maker Broadcom reports a win this morning of its Ultra HD systems-on-a-chip (SOC) products in China, as part of a set top box deployment. Broadcom said that Inspur Group, which is the primary systems integrator for Shandong Cable Network, has selects its SoCs for a new line of 4Kp60 cable set-top-boxes. Financial impact of the win and expected shipment volumes were not announced. The companies said the deployment will be the first 4Kp60 STB based on Broadcom's SoC. 4kp60 is a next generation standard around 4K resolution HDTV.
