Broadcom Joins Energy Conservation Effort
Irvine-based semiconductor maker Broadcom Corporation this morning said it has joined the Climate Savers Computing Initiative (CSCI), a nonprofit consortium looking to reduce energy consumption of networking and computing equipment. According to Broadcom, the group is looking to reduce energy and reduce the amount of CO2 used to power IT equipment. The consortium is led by Cisco, Dell, Emerson Network Power, F5, Google Inc. Intel, Juniper Networks, Microsoft, and the World Wildlife Fund. Broadcom says it already offers up a portfolio of energy efficient, Ethernet devices which reduce energy costs in networking devices.
