Irvine-based Broadcom (www.broadcom.com) has licensed a portfolio of storage technology patents from Cirrus Logic. The patents cover the area of magnetic and optical storage areas. Broadcom will pay Cirrus $18M to acquire the patents. Broadcom reports that it has over 500 US patents and over 2200 pending U.S. patents in its portfolio.
