Broadcom Rolls Out Set Top Box Chip

Irvine-based Broadcom said this week that it has rolled out a new digital cable set-top box chip, that incorporates HD AVC encoding, DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem support, and other features. The system-on-a-chip is targeted at digital cable set-top box manufacturers. The new chip also includes unique identification and key management systems for content security, along with support for the latest generation of video compression standards.
