Broadcom Ships Bluetooth Chip

Irvine-based Broadcom announced today that it has shipped a new Bluetooth chip, targeted at the mobile handset market. The developer of communications semiconductors said the systems-on-a-chip is focused on mobile handset applications, and can offer improvements in battery life and audio quality to handset makers. The company's Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR chip includes lower power consumption, smaller size, and better radio performance, and is based on 65nm CMOS.
