Broadcom Ships Mobile TV Chip

Irvine-based Broadcom said Tuesday that the firm has shipped a digital TV, single chip receiver that is targeted at the mobile TV market. The firm said its new systems-on-a-chips support the DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcast-Terrestrial) and DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld) standards. According to Broadcom, the chips are the first 65nm single-chip receivers in the market, and include versions specifically targeted at the cellular handset market and set-top-box and PC markets. Broadcom said it is now sampling both devices and firmware to qualified customers.
