Broadcom Taps Mobile Sound Technology
Irvine-based Broadcom (www.broadcom.com) has licensed a hardware independent audio engine from QSound Labs, for incporation into baseband processors for mobile phones and PDAs. Broadcom will incorporate the software into its processors, to enable polyphonic ring tones, video game sounds, music playback, and more. Qsound's microQ technology provides a digital audio playback engine, wavetable synthesis, as well as support for MIDI and other sound protocols.
