Broadcom Wins Another Ruling Against Qualcomm

Irvine-based Broadcom has had a reversal of a ruling that dismissed antitrust claims it had brought against Qualcomm in a court in New Jersey, allowing it to move forward in that case. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit reversed a lower court dismissal of Broadcom's antitrust case, which will allow the case against Qualcomm to go forward. The ruling reverses part of a decision made by a federal judge in New Jersey last year, and allows the case to process in the U.S. District court of New Jersey. The antitrust lawsuit is part of a number of legal disputes between Broadcom and Qualcomm over patent licensing. The case in question was filed by Broadcom on July 1 of 2005.
