Bush Presents Science and Technology Medals

Invoking the spirit of Lewis amd Clark in the East Room of the White House yesterday, President Bush handed out 14 National Medals of Science and Technology in a ceremony that also included greeting the 40 finalists of the 2005 Intel Science Talent Search. Award recipients included R. Duncan Luce of the University of California, Irvine, for his research on the mathematics of behavior, as well as Ethernet inventor Bob Metcalfe, and others in the fields of software engineering, chemistry, and more. The National Medals of Science and Technology are awarded to individuals who have pioneered scientific research and technology, and is administered by the National Science Foundation.
