| "Autonomous Robots: Current Status and Opportunities" Softec. George Bekey, Ph.D , Professor Emeritus, Computer Science Department, University of Southern California. The goal of this presentation is to highlight some current developments in mobile, autonomous robots (both in the US and abroad) and attempt to extrapolate to the future. We begin with a review of currently available systems, such as the vacuuming robots from iRobot, Electrolux, and Sharper Image; the humanoid robots from Japanese companies like Honda, Sony, Fujitsu and others, as well as NASA's Robonaut; entertainment robots (such as the Sony AIBO) and some military systems, pointing out some of their strengths and weaknesses.
