"OpenSolaris" SDSIC. OpenSolaris is an online community started in 2005 by Sun Microsystems when they open sourced the Solaris source code. Today, with over 82,500 registered community members, OpenSolaris has become one of the most visited open source projects on the net. This presentation will discuss the innovations in the new OpenSolaris binary distribution, including its new package system and network repository, new features in OpenSolaris such as in-kernel CIFS windows file sharing services, and the xVM hypervisor for Windows and Linux guest OSes.
