"P2P Networks: From Piracy 2 Promotions" USC. Speak & Spark. Featured Speaker will be Dr. II-Horn Hann. The prolific growth in P2P networks demonstrates the power of the Internet as a new distribution medium for digital content. However, P2P Networks present significant threats to digital content producers. For example, it is estimated that 1 Billion songs are being traded monthly on illegal file-sharing networks, and have been directly responsible, as some have argued, for the decline in CD sales. But do these illegal downloads also present new opportunities for product marketing and intelligence? USC Information and Operations Professor Il-Horn Hann will discuss some of his recent research findings in this area and will assess the viability of exploiting P2P networks as a promotional tool.
