San Diego-based Cardea Bio, which is developing "electronic nose" technology, says it has received a $1.1M grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. According to the company, it will use the funding to develop its electronic nose, which is being aimed at rapidly diagnosing infectious diseases. The company said it specifically is looking to develop the technology for use in rapidly diagnosing infectious diseases in developing countries. Michael Heltzen is CEO at Cardea Bio.
