Cell Phone Cameras Drive Digital Camera Market
A new study just released from IDC shows that camera phones are helping to drive the digital camera market. The study, released this week, found that the camera phone in the U.S. creates, rather than destroys digital camera users. The study said that over 30% of camera phone owners plan to purchase a digital camera because they were introduced to digital imaging through a camera phone. However, the study also found that printing of images captured on camera phones is also on the decline, with one image being printed every three months in 2005 versus one image per month in 2004. IDC said that the top imaging activities were archiving images for the long-term and sharing images through email.
