La Jolla-based Chumby, a developer of open, hackable, wireless electronic clocks, has received an investment from O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal was announced as part of the formation of O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures, a new venture capital firm based in the Bay Area. Chumby is headed by Steve Tomlin, former VP at America Online.
