Chumby Ups Series B To $8.7M

San Diego-based Chumby, the maker of the Internet-connected, Linux-based clock radio, has upped its Series B funding to $8.78M, according to a regulatory filing from the firm this week. According to the filing, the firm is in the midst of raising up to $9.786M in the round. Chumby develops a Wi-Fi enabled, Internet device which acts both as a clock as well as a connection into internet services like Weather, news, and more. No details on this funding round have been announced by the company, however, the firm is backed by Avalon Ventures, JK&B Capital, Masthead Venture Partners, and O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures.
