    Cianna Medical Gets $9M

Aliso Viejo-based Cianna Medical said yesterday that it has raised $9M in a Series A funding round. The company, which is a spinout of BioLucent, said the funding will go towards further commercialization of the firm's breast brachytherapy technology. Investors in the firm include Fog City Fund, Windamere Venture Partners, and unnamed individuals. Cianna's technology provides a shortened course of high-dose radiation therapy for treating early stage breast cancer.
