San Diego-based Cibus, a developer of gene-based, crop breeding techniques, said today that it has acquired Nucelis, a biotechnology firm focused on technology for developing bio-chemicals based on harnessing plants, yeast, and bacteria. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Nucelis had already been partially owned by Cibus, and licensed Cibus technology for its efforts. Cibus now says it employs 100 people worldwide. Nucelis will become an independent operating unit of Cibus.
