Cibus Global Finds $1.1M

San Diego-based Cibus Global, a developer of technology for engineering agricultural crops, has raised $1.16M in funding, according to a regulatory filing by the firm Tuesday. The funding appears to be part of an ongoing, $2.6M fundraising by the firm. Cibus said it is developing a patent-protected technology which helps develop environmentally friendly crop traits for the agricultural community, which are free from the market resistance and regulatory burdens of introducing foreign genetic material into crops. The firm said its technique - the Rapid Trait Development System (RTDS) - alters genetic sequences in-situ, and not through the controversial method of splicing in foreign genes. More information »
