    Cisco Acquires Sipura Technology For $68M


    Cisco's Irvine-based Linksys division yesterday acquired Sipura Technology, a provider of voice over internet protocol (VoIP) technology. Linksys, a provider of wireless and networking hardware for the small office/home office environment said that it would pay $68M in cash and options for Sipura. Sipura is a current provider of technology to the Linksys line of VoIP networking devices. The company also said that Sipura's experienced team will help Linksys improve its research and development capabilities in the voice, video, and other markets. Sipura's technology is integrated into home routers and gateways to provide VoIP capability.
