Citrix Systems' Santa Barbara-based online services division said today that it is expanding its Citrix GoToMeeting service to include high definition, group video conferencing support. Citrix said its new HDFaces feature will provide high definition video for up to six attendees via the online conferencing service. According to Citrix, the new service is available at no additional cost to current users. The new HD video support supports up to six streams of HD video, at a resolution of 640x480p each, and a max resolution of 1920p x 960p. Citrix said it is trying to make it easier, and less expensive, for small and medium businesses to implement videoconferencing systems, saying those businesses are not a fit for the usual, $10,000 to $30,000 in hardware costs required for most telepresence systems.
