Conexant Acquires PC Audio Technology, Engineering Team

Newport Beach-based Conexant Systems said today that it has signed an agreement with Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) to manufacture, distribute, and support ADI's PC audio codec product lines, including the hiring of ADI's PC audio engineering support team. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. According to Conexant, ADI's PC audio codec products engineering team will become part of its Imaging and PC Media Group in Waltham, Mass. ADI's products are used for encoding and decoding digital data on personal computers. Conexant said the technology will be complementary to Conexant's audio product profile, which also includes speakers-on-a-chip for personal computers, PC sound systems, speakers, and related products.
