    Conexant Integrates DSL, Wi-Fi

Newport Beach-based semiconductor provider Conexant Systems has launched a new family of network processors that integrate DSL capability with Wi-Fi. Conexant said today that its new CX9461x is the first integrated network processor that integrates Wi-Fi, ADSL2plus, and Voice over IP (VoIP) functionality. The new device is targeted at manufacturers of DSL gateways, bridges, and routers. The company said that its new chip family supports 802.11a/b/g MAC and baseband capability along with support for advanced features like virtual private networks. Currently manufacturers integrate multiple components to provide both DSL and Wi-Fi capability for their devices.
