DAR.fm Tightens Screws On Free Users, Further Restricts Service

San Diego-based DAR.fmM, the handy radio recording service which lets users record radio shows for listening later via their PC or mobile device, is tightening the screws on its users, telling them today that it has started restricting the ability for users to listen to their radio recordings on smartphone or other non-PC devices. The company said that only paid "Pro" level subscribers will be able to use those features. The further restrictions on the service follows a move only a couple of weeks ago to restrict automatic downloads of the radio recording -- part of a push to pay for the bandwidth costs of the service. DAR.fm said the moves are all aimed at making the service sustainable. DAR.fm's service allows users to schedule recording of radio shows and broadcasts for later listening.
