Santa Monica-based Demand Media has made an interesting move this morning, launching a brand new, subscription fitness and nutrition program. Demand Media said it new Stronger program is part of a "key initiative" to expand its paid content porfolio. Demand Media recently acquired subscription-based video workshop and instruction site Creativebug. Stronger is an offshoot of Demand Media's LIVESTRONG.COM site.
Demand Media said its new, digital fitness and nutrition program will include videos and workout sessions from celebrity trainer and soccer player Nicky Holender, as well as personalized meal plans, an interactive dashboard including its MyPlate calorie tracker, and other tools for helping people meet their fitness and nutrition goals.
Demand said the service is the first part of an expansion plan for its paid content efforts: the company said that it is looking to introduce new, fitness programs targeted at specific parts of the market, for example, yoga enthusiasts or new moms. The new service is reminiscent of fellow Los Angeles fitness subscription site FitOrbit, which has been combining personal training with online tracking tools.
