Demarc Scores In World Cup
Carpinteria-based Demarc Security has scored a win for its network
security systems, with an install at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Demarc's
hardware was used by Avaya as part of a converged communications network for the event. According to Avaya, Demarc's Network IDS system, Sentarus, was the key to secure the soccer event, and was used to detect real-time attacks by hackers, malware, worms, and viruses. The World Cup network was used to connect the 12 FIFA World Cup stadiums, media centers, and FIFA headquarters, and had an estimated 45,000 network connections and 30,000 network devices. Demarc is a Linux-based system based on the popular Snort
network security engine.
