Diligent, Nexsan Partner On Virtual Tape

Woodland Hills-based Nexsan Technologies and virtual tape provider Diligent Technologies have joined to deliver a joint virtual tape library (VTL) solution based on Nexsan's SATA/ATA disk arrays. The combination of Diligent's virtual tape software and Nexsan's low cost disk arrays will allow end user to back up their hosts easily to disk instead of tape. Virtual Tape Library technology presents what appear to be standard tape libraries to backup software, however actually are based on disk storage. The use of virtual tape streamlines backup procedures without affecting the backup software companies are using. Diligent competitor Alacritus was recently acquired by NAS storage giant Network Appliance.
