    DivX Certifies Casio Still Camera

San Diego-based DivX has added yet another consumer device to its list of licensees, saying this week that it has certified a new Casio digital still camera as DivX compatible. Casio's new Casio EX-S600D is the first digital still camera that uses the company's video compression codec. Casio's new hardware allows users to capture videos in DivX format. The new hardware is being marketed to consumers in France and Germany. DivX licenses its video compression/decompression technology to hardware manufacturers for encoding and playback.
