DivX Inks License Deal With AMD

San Diego-based DivX said Wednesday that it has inked a licensing agreement with AMD. According to DivX, AMD will include its codec technology in certain AMD Xilleon processors for digital TVs. DivX develops video encoding and decoding technology which it licenses to consumer electronics manufacturers and software developers. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. AMD's Xilleon processors are being specifically marketed and designed for digital television manufacturers; the MIPs-based processors are used to power video and audio decoding, graphics and other digital TV and home gateway functions.
