Docstoc Adds 100K Books, 150K Docs To Marketplace

Santa Monica-based Docstoc, the online professional document sharing site run by Jason Nazar, is announcing this morning that it has added around 100,000 books and 150,000 documents to the site, as part of a deal with Overdrive.com. According to Docstoc, the books include titles from McGraw-Hill, Microsoft Press, John Wiley & Sons, Random House, Simon & Shuster, Barnes & Noble World Digital Library, Cambridge University Press, Barron's, Elsevier, Sourcebooks, Pearson, and others. The electronic books will list for between $10 and $50, with the firm saying the average price of those books is $40. Docstoc also said that it's separately added a number of other publishers, including Zacks Investment Research, FindLegalForms, Morgan James Publishing, Wrights Investors Services, and others, to the marketplace. The new documents are a part of the firm's recent launch of its own, document marketplace, the DocStore, which allows anyone to sell their own professional documents. Nazar said that the site is seeing "exponential" grwoth from documents sold by its users, with about 20 percent of all the sales in the Docstore from those users.
