    DriveCam Focuses On Taxi Safety

San Diego-based startup DriveCam Video Systems announced this week that it is now shipping a new security feature for its onboard video monitoring systems. The company said that its new DriveCam Passenger Transportation Mode (PTM) records images of the driver and passengers when a vehicle door is opened or closed. The company's systems are marketed to record unsafe driving in commercial fleets, and include a dual-lens video camera and electronically triggered capture. The new DriveCam PTM mode is targeted at reducing criminal activity in taxicabs. DriveCam said that Whittlesea Bell, a taxicab fleet in Las Vegas, has already installed the system in its vehicles. DriveCam is backed by the Tech Coast Angels.
