    eduFire.com Raises $400K

Los Angeles-based eduFire.com, which is developing an online platform for real-time, in-browser video learning, has raised $400,000 in an angel investment round, the firm's CEO, Jon Bischke, told socalTECH Tuesday. The company, which helps tutors in foreign languages connect with students, said it would use the funding to continue to develop its platform, and to raise exposure for its brand through targeted marketing and promotion. eduFire's web site allows students to access teachers anywhere in the world, and also allows tutors to run their tutoring session through chat, voice, and webcam connections on eduFire. Biscke has previously been at 200Tutor.com Network, which was sold to Penton Media in 2001, and Zaadz, which was sold to Gaiam in 2007. The firm's VP of Engineering is Scott Johnson, who was founder and CTO of Feedster.
