Emulex, Nuova Collaborate On Ethernet Storage Products
Costa Mesa-based Emulex and Nuova Systems said earlier this week that Emulex will use Nuova's technology to develop a family of Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) products. The new products will allow users to transport Fibre Channel traffic over Ethernet networks, and are expected to be available in sample quantities in the first half of 2008. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Emulex said the move was part of a goal to provide a seamless migration path to FCoE, which allows Fibre Channel storage traffic to be moved over standard Ethernet networks. Nuova is a Cisco Systems spinout. Emulex is a manufacturer of Fibre Channel networking hardware, including host bus adapters, switches, and other related products.
