Emulex, QLogic Back 16Gb/s Fibre Channel
Costa Mesa-based Emulex and Aliso Viejo-based QLogic, teh two Orange County Fibre Channel storage area networking equipment manufacturers, both separately announced their support for the new 16 Gb/s Fibre Channel standard today. The standard is used for connecting servers with storage. The ratification of the standard, via the ANSI T11 committees, was announced by the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) and a number of manufacturers this morning. Both Emulex and Qlogic--fierce competitors in the networking hardware space--have committed to deliver 16 Gb/s Fibre Channel equipment.
