eMusic Ties Into Sun Records

eMusic, based in San Diego and New York, said yesterday that its subscribers can now download MP3s from Sun Records, the musc label behind Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Charlie Rich and Carl Perkins. The music download service will offer new digital downloads from album material from the Sun Records catalogue. The service will be posting over 400 tracks and singles from the well known artists, in addition to other Sun Records artists. The deal makes rare historic tracks from Sun Records available which in many cases are only available on vinyl. eMusic will also offer another 500 tracks from Sun Entertainment's other catalogs. eMusic offers a subscription music download service focused on independent labels. The company's monthly subscriptions are based on the number of downloads users make per month.
