Envoy Technologies Gets $1.5M For Electric Vehicle Sharing

Culver City-based Envoy Technologies a startup developing programs to help make electric vehicles available to disadvantaged communities, has received $1.5M in funding from the California Energy Commission, according to the company. Envoy said the grant will go to develop a shared, electric vehicle program for disadvantaged communities in the greater Sacramento Metropolitan and the California Bay Area. Envoy's program makes shared electric vehicles available to users, either for personal use, or for use in driving for services such as Postmates, Grubhub, Uber, and Lyft. The service installs electric chargers, and places a vehicle at specific locations--apartments, hotels, offices, student housing--which can be reserved and shared by residents for any use.
