EQAL Hires VP From Mark Burnett Productions

Los Angeles-based EQAL, the digital entertainment company founded by the creators of lonelygirl15, said today that they have hired James Sterling as Senior Vice President of Business Affairs and Operations. Sterling joins the firm from Mark Burnett Productions, the production company behind The Apprentice, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, and other reality television shows. Sterling previously oversal business and legal matters for Mark Burnett Productions. EQAL was founded by Miles Beckett and Greg Goodfried, who created lonelygirl15, a hugely popular video blog on YouTube. The firm recently raised $5M in funding from Spark Capital, along with angels that included Silicon Valley angel Ron Conway, Netscape's Marc Andreessen, and others. lonelygirl15 started as the video blog of a teenage girl, and after becoming hugely popular was exposed as a fictional creation of Beckett and Goodfried.
