Esri Buys Geoloqi

Redlands-based Esri, the developer of geographical information systems (GIS) software, has acquired startup Geoloqi, which developed a service for geocoding information. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Geoloqi was based in Portland. Esri was founded by Jack and Laura Dangermond, and has quietly become a giant in the geographical information systems (GIS) field, and one of the largest companies in the Inland Empire; the firm now has more than 2,900 employees. Esri has actually been very active in acquiring startups and other companies in the last year or two; the firm has acquired Maptel, SpotOn Systems, and Procedural over the last couple of years.
