ESRI Ties Into GPS Mobile Phones, Blogging
Redlands-based ESRI is deploying its ESRI ArcWeb mapping services to supply mapping and geographic data for PCs and GPS-enabled mobile phones. The company's Trimble Outdoors software applications tap into ESRI's extensive mapping tools to allow for trip planning, location-based blogging applications, and other tools. The company is targeting outdoor enthusiasts who want or need to integrate detailed mapping functionality with GPS-enabled phones and mobile phone cameras, automatically stamping photos with location information and allowing those photos to be posted online. The services will be available as part of a monthly subscription. The company is looking to tap into the outdoor enthusiast market and users who want to share their trips and photos with others.
