Eventful Teams With Billboard On Concert Promotion
San Diego-based Eventful is gearing up its music efforts with a new relationship in the music business, with Billboard, saying Wednesday that the two are collaborating on an effort to give music acts an award for "Best Concert Tour of the Year." Eventful said that music fans can log onto the firm's site and vote for one of a number of musical acts through its "Demand" service, in a cross promotion between the firm, Billboard, and strategic partner Ticketmaster. Financial details of the promotion were not disclosed. Eventful said that the effort will include promotion of the award and Eventful through Billboard and Ticketmaster. Eventful's Demand feature allows Internet users to request music tours and other events in their home towns, and is heavily used by artists and musicians to figure out where their fans are. Eventful--originally a generic events listing site--has gradually shifted its efforts towards serving performers and artists. The firm said it now has over 50,000 performers using its services.
