Los Angeles-based Everbridge, a developer of mass notification services, is jumping into the Web 2.0 world today, saying it has launched a "Web 2.0" platform for emergency notifications. The firm said its new Everbridge SmartGIS for Citizen Alerts is a Web 2.0 service which notifies citizens of emergency incidents, and also incorporates the ability to connect with citizens through user profiles and an interactive map. The new software is based on a visual map, which allows emergency managers to target notifications based on location, with the key change for citizens the ability to change their own contact information and preferences through a personal profile. Everbridge is venture backed by ABS Ventures.
