Evolution Robotics, Bandai Partner On Consumer Robotics
Bandai, a toy manufacturer, and Pasadena-based Evolution Robotics yesterday released a new robot based on Evolution's robotics technology, the firms said. Bandai's new NetTansor mobile robot is targeted at families and hobbyists, and allows people to control the robot remotely from the Internet. The robot uses Evolution Robotics' ViPR vision system technology, for recognizing objects and images. Terms of the technology deal were not disclosed. Bandai will sell the NetTansor robot kit in Japan starting in December. Evolution Robotics is an Idealab-backed firm developing robotics technology.
