    Evolution Robotics Adds Localization

Pasadena-based Evolution Robotics (www.evolution.com) said that it has introduced a new hardware and software solution targeted at localization for mobile devices in indoor environments. The new solution, which works similarly to GPS, uses infrared light to enable robotic devices to better navigate in an indoor environment. The company's NorthStar solution projects invisible IR light onto the ceiling of its environment to determine where a device is and where it is heading through triangulation.
